The Department of Philosophy is a very important subject in the field of Humanities at U.G. levelalong with various Subjects in Brahmaputra Degree College. The students should be well versed with nature of Ethics, Metaphysics, Epistemology, and alsothey should get the knowledge of Indian and Western Philosophy. The subject will also help the students prepare for the competitive exams. The College was established in1993, but the Philosophy department was started from 2004. Mr. Mohan Handique was the founder teacher of this department. He rendered his services in the department only for few years. Mohan Handique worked in this department as a lecturer. In 2006 Mr. Biswajit Doley joined the department as a lecturer and now is, Assistant Professor and Head of the Department. In 2009 Mr. Atul Gogoi joined the department as a lecturer, and now is serving as an Assistant Professor.
